Director Larry Pough, a retired Environment, Health and Safety Engineering Supervisor of 3M Company is a graduate of Dillard University where he earned a degree in Chemistry Pre-Med. During his 36-year employment at 3M Company Director Pough obtained a degree in Chemical Engineering and a diploma in Business Management. He progressed through the company working as a process engineer, production supervisor, project engineer, production General Supervisor, Safety Engineer and an Environmental Health and Safety Engineering Supervisor. In each leadership positions he was responsible for the management of the department, including establishment of the operating budget, annual goals and employee requirements to meet customers’ demands.

Director Pough, is a life member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity where has served 3 terms as chapter president, 2 terms as vice president and 2 terms a secretary. He served as Theta Omicron chapter’s Talent Hunt Chairman for 5 years before he was selected to serve as the 2nd District Talent Hunt Chairman. He served the District for 18 years. Under his leadership the number of students participating in District (Regional) Talent Hunt program showed a significant growth in participants. The instrumental and vocal categories were revised to allow classical and contemporary students to be judged in separate categories with awards in each. In addition, the cash award was increased, the performance venue was upgraded, and the guidelines were made available on the district website. In 2005 Director Pough was appointed to serve as the International Talent Hunt Chairman. Under Director Pough, the Talent Hunt program has continued to grow and has achieved the following:

  • Standardized the Talent Hunt Guidelines across all districts.The guidelines are reviewed on an annual basis and are available on line.
  • Established monthly conference calls for district chairmen and required district chairmen to hold monthly calls with all chapter chairmen. 
  • Created training modules for all chairmen 
  • Videotaped all International Talent Hunt Demonstrations.
  • Obtained approval for funding to students during a non-conclave year 
  • Hosted the 1st Talent Hunt Demonstration during an International Leadership Conference. 
  • Established a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation to assist in funding the Talent Hunt program.

Director Pough has received several awards from the fraternity: The Grand Basileus Two Century Service Award, International Committee Chairman of the Year, Theta Sigma Chapter Legacy Award, 4 times chapter Omega Man of the Year, 3 times Chapter Superior Service Award, 3 times District Superior Service Award, Chapter Founder’s Award and 2nd District Founder’s Award. He has also received numerous District Representative Service Awards. In the community Director Pough is a graduate of the United Way African American Leadership Development Program, Chairman Hazardous Material Advisory Council – Tonawanda, NY, 3M Company Junior Achievement Program Coordinator, Project STRIDE Mentoring Program, Church Finance Committee Chair, Urban League Board of Directors, Theta Omicron Scholarship Foundation Board of Directors, Chairman UNCF Golf Tournament, Chairman Krewe Of Grady Pough Board of Directors (founding member), William Warfield Scholarship Fund Board of Director/Treasurer and several other church and community programs.
